David Tune (Navajo/Creek)

David Tune was born in Winslow, Arizona and raised in Oklahoma. His Creek and Navajo heritage lead him to silversmithing. He has been creating jewelry for over 15 years, as well as teaching high school for 10 of those. He has won numerous awards over the years even after he had to give up his art in 1978 due to cancer. He was cured of his cancer by his uncle, a healer and has just returned, in 1994, to his passion of creating beautiful pieces of jewelry.

His works are heavily influenced by his next loves, hot-air ballooning and skydiving. The aerial views of the earth he sees from these vantage points inspire his colorful and innovative inlays in his jewelry. He often uses multi-colors of coral, turquoise, lapis, sugilite, mother of pearl, opal and various other materials in combination with his dramatic stamp work for a style uniquely david tune. Every marking on his jewelry means something spiritual to David.
